How
does the breaking of the wall signify (show) a change
in
the speakers attitude?
In the third part of the poem, the speaker views himself as having been defeated by his obstacles. The wall has completely blocked his light and he no longer has any dreams. However, in the last part of the poem his perspective changes with the breaking of the wall. He decides to use his "dark hands" to break down the wall that has surrounded him. He now sees that he has to take life into his own hands and achieve his dreams. He now has pride in himself.
