Bridging Text & Context Format
Bridging text and context is worth 20% of your Bagrut exam score. It is very important that you include all the required parts of the answer. Please follow the directions below to successfully write your answer.
Your answer must reference both the quote (given in the question) AND the story/poem. If either reference is missing you will automatically lose 12 points or more (5 pointers) and 9 points or more (4 pointers)
Step #1:
· Read the quote/information & the question.
· Think about the connection between the story and quote.
· Brainstorm some supporting examples from the story/poem.
· Do not start to write until you have thought about your answer thoroughly.
Step #2: Start to write. Follow the directions below:
· Explain what the quote or information says in your own words
· Provide sufficient examples from the text that connect to the quote.
· Explain the connection & state how the quote adds to your understanding of the story. (Draw your conclusion from the connection between the quote and the story/poem) . You may mention some of the following: (you answer is not limited to the three below)
o Do you understand the author’s perspective better?
o Do you understand the story’s context better?
o Do you now understand the motive behind the existence of a certain character?
Step #3: Make sure to check your work! Make sure that:
· You have at least one specific example directly from the story/poem
· Your spelling and grammar is correct.
